My cell phone contract expired on the 22 December 2012.I went to two different MTN stores to enquire about the process of not renewing my contract and switching to pre-paid. I did this knowing that other people have had difficulty doing this before at MTN and other networks. The consultant instructed me to switch to pre-paid via the MTN call centre and my contract would then automatically be cancelled. I switched to pre-paid mid Jan and a debit order of R380-00 still came off my account. This means that R380-00 was deducted from my account even though I received no data or airtime. MTN and all other cell phone networks are mocking the consumer protection act.
