I requested my contracts to discontinue on their expiry dates in or around March 2013 as my wife and I have been overseas since January 2012. I sent an email together with a copy of my ID requesting the contracts to be discontinued. I was asked to provide various other information such as my account type, debt order date and so forth which I further provided. My contracts were however not terminated as I asked and Vodacom continued (and still continue) to debt my SA bank account! The story I have been given by customer services is that they could not verify the correspondence I sent them as they could not get hold of me telephonically. Since we were out of the country. What I cant get my head around is why did anyone need to get hold of me telephonically when I had given written notice, together with copies of my ID, bank details and debt order details etc? Since when was written notice, together with a copy of an ID not good enough to terminate my contract which I opened voluntarily in the first place? I am afraid to say in my experience and my understanding of the world this amounts to nothing short of money being "" out of my account every month since March 2013
