Contract cancellation - on hold for 48 minutes!!

I needed to cancel my cellphone contract with Vodacom. I was told that i could not do it at the Vodacare center and that i had to call 082 1958. I tried this numerous times. First time - was on hold for 25 mins. 2nd attempt - on hold for 48 minutes!!! and still no response. this contract needs to be cancelled before the 15th of September. If this is the only way i can cancel a contract, at least ensure the call center is equipped to handle the demand.
