Cellphone faulty

I have a contract which i have paid for, for two months already. I have tried to reach someone on several occasions but to no avail. The phone has not been working since day one!! I do not see why i should pay a contract for a phone that is faulty.
Once the contract was received, i have had no follow up's or anything.
