Disatisfied with cost of repair of new cellphone

I signed up a 24 month topUp99 Vodacom contract (Blackberry 9720) in October 2013. In December 2013 I discoverd that the cellphone was unable to charge. I then returned the cellphone to Vodashop in Bayside Tableview. Vodashop shop sent the cellphone to repairs in Joburg where the technitions discoverd that the USB socket was faulty on the motherboard and that I was the cause of it. I was told that it costs R1700 to fix the problem.

I would like to know how could a new cellphone cost so much to fix? and I am not even the cause of the problem. R1700 is almost the cost price of a Blackberry 9720. I would like to know what I am suppose to do now because I refuse to pay that price. Doesnt the cellphones 2 year warrantee cover repair charges? I only had the cellphone for 2 months
