Vodacom sim swap procedure lacking

I have been trying to do a sim swap on a prepaid cellphone for the 2 weeks now, the Vodacom employees in the Parow Center shopping mall have no idea how to do this.
On my first attempt they took my sim card and rica'd it then told me I should wait 24 hours before it works and it didn't work.
Then I went back to them and they told me it usually takes time before the sim swap process is completed and after I checked again on the 23rd hour, it was still not completed so I called the customer care (who said the sim swap process takes 3 hours) and asked them to check what was going on and lo and behold it had not even been processed. I just bought another sim card right now and they still can't do it. Customer care can't process it because I cannot tell them how much airtime was left on the phone, or what I did with my talking points (which I think is a ridiculous practice because who remembers what they did with talking points???).

This is a very disappointing experience and if I could, I'd just give up on that phone number.

Can someone resolve this please.
