Ad experience with upgrade gift vouche

I am a 74 year old lady. I was given a gift voucher of R1500.00 when i upgraded my contract in October 2012. I kept the voucher until i wanted to buy a new television towards early November 2013. On the 6th of November I went to shop at Game and rendered the voucher as payment which was declined due to it having expired at the end of October 2013. I was very taken aback and upset about this. I then contacted the Vodacom store where I had upgraded my contract and also received the voucher from. They were not helpfull at all. I asked them to assist and try and help me as the voucher had expired only 6 days before. They just said sorry they cant due to Vodacom not using the voucher system anymore. I feel that this was very unfair as that was actually my reward/money. I just cant understand that such vouchers can expire after 12 months as my contract term is 24months. I really believe that this is not fair.
