8ta takes more that 30 days to transfer number

I have a 8ta cell phone contract that expire on 6 December 2013. I went into their shop in Paarl Mall during October 2013 (more than 30 days in advance) to request them to make my numer a prepaid number. They completed all the forms, but inform me that it can only happen 72 hours after the 6th December 2013. Fine with me. I receive a case number. This is where the good service ends. Since then up to today, 17 December 2013, nothing has been done. I have made 11 phone calls to the call centre of 8ta since the end of the 72 hours. Each time speaking to somebody else, each time stating my ID, name, question, case number, phone number, contract expire date, etc. The following answers was given to me during this 11 calls: Can't find anything on the computer, the system is off, the case was log and I have to wait another 72 hours, my Supervisor will phone you, who will phone you back. Today, 17 December 2013 i speak to Mpune, who inform me that the system indicates that the numer will be made prepaid during next month. When I ask for a specific date, the system cannot supply a date. My question: does is really take more then a month to trasfer a number?
