No reply - 3 hours waiting in a queue

On Wednesday 11th December I was attempting to cancel my contract which is due to terminate, and spent 3 hours - not in succession, however over five attempts to get through. When I eventually did, it was a matter of transferring the call to Cancellations... then hours of further waiting.
I have since had my number ported to my new provider.
I am now attempting from my landline, to contact Cancellations to give my notice period, still cannot get through, endless music playing. Not good enough.
