I recently (6 months ago) relocated to Montana in Pretoria and have been struggling ever since with network signal in this are. I have hardly any 3G reception outside my house and can not make a voice call unless I am standing in the road outside my house
I have reported the problem to Vodacom on a monthly basis and received numerous calls informing me that a new tower needs to be installed to rectify the signal issue. Based on what I have been told by Vodacom, the installation of the tower is being opposed by a local environmental group. This has apparently been dragging on the past 4 years.
I asked for a booster to be installed in the interim but all three of my requests were declined.
I now want to "port my number" to another service provider but have been informed that I need to settle the remaining contract fee. I am not prepared to do this, as I don't receive the service I am paying for and have not for the past 6 months received a reliable service.
I reported the issue to the cancelation department on a weekly basis, they take the matter up with the to the Network department who in turn needs to send a letter confirming my contract can be cancled this has not been done.
