Too busy to action cancellation requests

On 30th I faxed a request to cancel a contract to the fax number supplied on the request form which Nashua insist be filled in before they can action any cancellation. On 31st October I faxed through a request to cancel the contract and port the number to another supplier. In both instances the report i received said the fax had gone through successfully. About a week ago I call the customer helpline to check that the requests had been actioned, and was told by Birton Berries "it is a busy fax line and the requests are loaded in order that they are received. Nothing can be done to expedite my requests, and I would continue being liable until admin manged to load my form - I had to wait and be patient." Apparently I have to keep paying till they get around to loading my request!!
I contacted the customer service via email to check if this was correct and received this reply - "Our apologies for any inconvenience caused; the information provided is correct, we action requests and documents as soon as they are received in the order they come in, and we are experiencing high volumes of client requests at the moment, so we are unable to work through them as fast as we would".
