No early upgrade on contract

I called MTN in the hope that i could upgrade now and not wait until 2 Jan 2014. My Blackberry 9900 handset is rubbish has been in for repairs and there is always something wrong with it! Work in an industry where I need to be contactable 24/7 as I am always on call. I wanted to try and upgrade to a Iphone 5 keeping may same contract and then paying R399 per month instead of R369. But i was told to get lost basically, I am more than willing to pay a little extra just to get a working phone. MTN has always given Ok service, but I am not impressed. Not like I want to cancel my contract or anything! I am now looking purchasing a handset, let my contract end and then goodbye MTN. MTN what is your response on this matter? Is it worth loosing me as a customer over a 1 and a bit month earlier upgrade? "Money the you would loose if you upgrade me earlier? "
