I received a bill for R16253.10 for January! I have a 750mg contract. My understanding is that when you buy 750mgs that is what you contracted. Once my 750 megs ran out I was automatically charged R1 per meg! But it seems that Vodacom have taken it upon themselves to build in a system that means that you are nailed if you exceed what you contracted to purchase per month and they have no accountability to assist you in alerting you to it at a reasonable point. They noticed an 'out of ordinary usage' on my data bundle. Not once I went over my bundle but R16253 before they called me to find out if this might be due to a problem. Why was I not informed when they realised I had gone over the 750mg! This is insane for 10 days of usage! Vodacom - I put this to you - First: change your system and set up a fair exchange on billing. Second: Be transparent rather than underhanded. If anyone had of asked me I would have asked to be capped at the amount I bought. Third: put in place a check and balance to protect customers from a situation like this - how you could allow a bill like this to clock up in the first place. Fourth: I challenge you to do the right thing and rectify this situation.
