Are the technicians actually competent?

My cell keeps on giving me the following message - Your memory is defragmented and the phone needs to restart. The phone works 100 percent, but needs to be rebooted once a week. No Big deal, but I took it to the vodacare shop, where they told me I need to take it to Sandton Repair shop. It will take 2 hours max its a software problem. Take it to Sandton, they will book it in, i could get it back later that afternoon or Saturday morning. It is now Monday, after I called in twice they tell me the track pad is faulty and they need it for 2 days. I question if it really is my phone as it works 100 percent and the only problem is the software. And there is NO manager I can speak to!!! Last time i took my old blackberry in as the letter "I" was sticking and get a call back saying my phone is water damaged and cannot be repaired it is not usable. Never been in water. Well after putting in a new keypad my niece has the phone and it works 100 percent, so much for the water damage and it will never work. My question is, are these technicians actually qualified and do they know what they are doing. Is it not far too easy for them to say - Claim from insurance. BTW Loan phone is useless.
