Vodafone Protect - No password retrieval

I recently got a new phone and was interested in subscribing to Vodafone Protect so I downloaded the app. Since downloading it, I was badgered with notifications and warnings to subscribe. When I finally looked into the subscription options, I somehow managed to get the phone locked.
The app offers a password retrieval option where it sends a link to your email, from which you should be able to reset your password but it doesn't seem to work. When you eventually click on the "sign in" button and select the "forgot your password" option, they ask for your mobile number.
Surprisinglu, my mobile nr doesn't seem to register with Vodafone Protect, and I can't get a new password/pin.
I contacted Vodacom Customer Care last night, and was advised that I would be contacted by them again by this afternoon to solve the issue. When I followed up this morning, I was told that I would by contacted by or before 17:00 today.
I find the time-frame to resolve this issue unacceptable as I have no phone and urgently need it. I am not being assisted as a matter of urgency or priority. Why doesn't Vodafone Protect have dedicated technicians or assistants to assist with matters like these?
