Repair costs more than a new cellphone

I upgraded my phone in June 2013. Due to the fact that it was a new phone on the market, the Vodacom shop did not have a cover for my phone, and needless to say, my phone fell and the screen broke. So I gave my phone in at the Vodacom Repair shop in Menlyn on 24/09/2013 (job number 9224273). This weekend I went to Vodacom to find out how far they were with the repairs. The lady at the helpdesk asked me whether I accept the quote that they have emailed to me on 01/10/2013 (which I have never received). I was shocked when the lady informed me that the quote to repair only the screen of my cellphone was R5300. I can buy a new cell phone with that money. The invoice also stated that it was for phone damage and to repair my screen. Only my screen needs to be repaired - there is nothing else wrong with the phone. I would rather use that money to stop my contract (after 10 years) at Vodacom and find another service provider.
