After having my phone I went to Vodaworld to have the issue resolved.
After waiting in a queue for an hour! I got to the desk where the consultant told me they could not blacklist phone, give me a premature upgrade, cancel my contract or keep my number if I was to take out an additional contract. All they would do is give me a SIM swap or open another account for me. The only way I could keep my number would be to by a new phone cash.

I was happy to pay a reasonable cancellation penalty and open a new account under the same number. The "System does not allow this"! Any number on which a contract is cancelled cannot be reused for 6 months!! Great to find this out 90mins later on a weekday! You would swear that Vodacom is trying to inconvenience its customers to the point where they all move to other SPs.
