Paying insurance and no lone phone

I am paying my son's cell phone contract at Vodacom. What is the use of paying a monthly insurance fee and when your phone breaks, they can't give you a lone phone while they repair your phone? Staying without a cell phone for a month now a days when you need it for work is a BIG no-no!!! My has had problems with his phone for months now and cannot afford to go without a phone at work. Vodacom is willing to send his phone away for repairs, but he has to go without a mobile for a month!! This is pathetic service!! I am glad I am not with the same service provider. SHAME ON VODACOM, SHAME ON YOU!!!
