Unnecessary Cancellation and Debit orders

Earlier this year I got a call about my 8ta 10G Contract for R199 will be expiring in August and I can go and upgrade it in August. I went to Tygervalley early August/end July to get the upgrade and the lady told me that I cant, because that was a promotion at that time. She told me that I have to take out a NEW contract for R299 meaning I get 10G 10G night surfer. She told me that I just have to cancel my existing contract. She told me I need to phone the customer care line in order for the cancellation. On August 18 I did that. I phoned in and had it cancelled. Yesterday (26 Sept) I got a call regarding upgrading my R199 contract, and I was so confused and told her I had it cancelled. The lady told me the contract was not cancelled and I could have got it upgraded to a R199 10G 10G nightsurfer. So she logged a case for me (6725694) I feel robbed by 8ta, because I had a bill of R755.87 end August because of my new R299 contract sim connection fee. AND I still paid the R199.
I phoned 8ta today and they told me that because my R199 contract wasnt cancelled, I will still pay R199 end of September. So end of September I will be paying for 2 contracts? I lost R1000 because of this
