I took a contract from MTN and they gave me a recycled number to use. i started receiving calls and sms's directed to the previous user which some of them were ot pleasant. i called MTN to have the number changed and i also gave them a number i would like them to use but they insist on giving me another MTN number.
i explained to the gentleman that i do not want that number as i might get the same problem again and would have to go back to them again. MTN claims that since i have made phone calls with the current number they gave me, i can no longer change the number.
Sim card did not work when i initially received it but then the service centre assisted me and the number started working so i had to make a call to make sure it was now working. it is then after that i started receiving those calls and sms's.
so whether i used it intentionally or not, the number was going to be in use.
all i need from them is to cancel the current number and use the one i give them as i do not want a repeat of the current issue!
