MWeb have been wonderful over the last 4 years. I had 0 complaints over that time and I recommended them fondly to my friends and family. Since Sunday they decided to severely limit my bandwidth for excessive use...
I am a heavy internet user, which is why I bought a 4Mb uncapped account. These accounts are not cheap. I do not own a TV and am not a DSTV subscriber - all my entertainment comes from online video streaming with Netflix, music via Spotify, Steam online gaming, and video Skyping with friends. All this was fine with MWeb for the last 4 years. I have not used more than usual during the last month, but suddenly I am being punished.
Their excessive throttling serverely cripples my internet. None of the above services work with my downstream bandwith limited to about 5% of normal capacity. I can barely use email and websites (at least HelloPeter.com has very few images). I had to upgrade my phone to iOS7 at a friend's house. I had to drive back again to copy the new iTunes on a flash drive.
I am so upset with this company that I want to move to a competitor, but I cannot afford duplicate ISP fees during the mandatory calendar month cancellation period.
