Refurbished Blackberry handset

My dad upgraded his contract with Mtn about a year ago the handset gave him problems in the first month and was sent in for a firmware upgrade. Three months later the handset went screen dead and was replaced with a refurbished. This refurbished unit was giving him problems and not charging, which he noticed that the phone charging pin was loose. He then returned to the store with phone and the sales person advised him that the charger is faulty and he needs to buy a new charger. After replacing the charger the same problem still occurred. The handset became so bad that it stopped charging.
The handset was taken back to them and the phone was sent to HVRC. The Handset returned back with a technician report that it is not repairable. Store manger Wesley advised him to take to berryfix were there fix the problem for R56 . The repair centre advised him that there is a manufacturer defect on the handset and the pc board needs to be replaced and advised him to take back to MTN .
Upon return to mtn Wesley store manger told him that there is nothing that can be done for him. He now sits with a Handset not operational and currently paying R499 a month. The handset is still under warranty.
