Phone loosing connectivity

After waiting patiently for my MTN contract to expire to move to Cell C and get a fancy Samsung S4, I'm now extremely frustrated and sitting with a phone who looses connectivity everytime the phone's screen locks. I've had the phone for almost two weeks now. After 6 days of having the phone, I went back to Cell C and they did a sim swop. Once again I had to wait 2 hours before the sim was activated. I'm still sitting with a phone where I don't have connectivity. Wifi works well, but I cant make or receive calls and in the event where I do have connectivity, it's only for a few seconds and I either miss the call or call gets ended after a few seconds. I do not work close to home and can't pop into Cell C every day to get the phone sorted out. I've missed importent calls within the past 2 weeks and wasn't able to use my phone to make importent calls. I am extremely dissapointed and frustrated - I wonder whether I made a mistake to move to Cell C and Samsung. Is it the phone or Cell C?
