I have MTN contract iPhone 4s that is 19 months old. About 2 months ago the wifi greyed out and I tried all the recommended bug fixes from Apple. They are all software related. Nothing worked. Problem therefore hardware related.
Discussed the problem with MTN and then learnt that the iPhone warranty is only for 12 months and repairs are for my account. Person I spoke to pointed out that I need to go and check my contract as MTN amends the 24 month warranty period on all contracts for iPhones.
Duly checked my contract and there are no changes, specifications or amendments. Clearly states that Mtn (not Apple) guarantees my phone for 24 months.
Took the phone contract to the Mtn Repair Centre in Montague Gardens - they refused to even look at it and sent me back to Canal Walk.
The person at MTN Canal Walk looked at the contract and said since the CPA kicked in my warranty is with the phone manufacturer, regardless of what my contract says. Really? I signed that CONTRACT - MTN's representative signed that CONTRACT and it says 24 months. That is a LEGAL document.
He then promised to "ESCALATE" the matter - It has been 4 days - I have had NO feedback or contact from MTN
