I am currently a customer with Vodacom pre paid but this morning found that my phone number had been allocated to a cell C contract. It seems that when opening a contract for another customer the typed my number in and it has now been allocated to this customer. I have spoken to Vodacom and they have confirmed that my number has been discontinued with Vodacom. After hours on the phone with the cell c service centre (both by myself and cell c staff at century city) I am still no closer to getting the issue resolved. The consultants at the cell c service centre just continually passed the call onto somebody else with the best advice they could offer is for me to go into the store where I took out the contract and have my number changed. It seems beyond them to understand that I don't have a contract with them and that they have, albeit inadvertently, ' hijacked my number Apart from the inconvenience of no longer having a phone there is also the security risk of my banking alerts now being received by somebody else. So much for RICA security. Any advice/help as to how I can get my number back would be greatly appreciated. Phoning the cell c service centre however is a complete waste.
