I have had a contract with Cell C for almost 10 years, with the same phone number. For the past 2 years I have been using a company phone, so I decided to switch my private Cell C contract to a pay as you go, as I was paying contract fees and not using the phone, BUT I WANTED TO KEEP MY NUMBER, so that I could go back to contract with that number when necessary.

I have not used the phone in a while, but it's linked to an internet banking account, so when I wanted to edit my banking account I needed to receive an sms on that number. I switched on the phone and the display read "SIM unregistered".

I called the Cell C service centre who informed me that my number (which I've had for almost 10 years!!!) has been given to someone else, as it was not being used. Nothing could be done about it.

I find it ABSOLUTELY UNACCEPTABLE that my number can be given to someone else without Cell C informing me or contacting me in any way.

My husband also has a contract with Cell C. He will be moving to another network, and we will NEVER be clients of Cell C again.
