I have requested that MTN remove me from all promotions they run, as the Mahala promotion, which I did not consent to, has proven to be pricey. After buying R180 worth of airtime on the 29th August 2013, I was "rewarded" with R90 worth of airtime (50% of the recharge value) totalling R270 worth of airtime. In under 24 hours, my airtime was down to R80 (I only found this out after I tried making a call and got a "You have insufficient airtime" msg). I called 173 and was eventually put through to Neville Moodley, the supervisor on shift. I requested that I be removed from all future promotional activities from MTN and that he send me my balance and explain HOW my airtime just disappeared. He PROMISED to send an email to me detailing the above actions as requested by me, but true to MTN form (I have logged several complaints in the past), he has not sent me this email. MTN, I have it with your service and your general disregard for your consumers. And whenever I ask you to release me from my contract with you, your automated response is that I will incur a charge should I do that., which is all you really care about after all! YOUR bottom line, not the customer!
