I recently upgraded my contract from a previous existing contract with Vodacom. I upgraded from a blackberry to a S3 mini. On Monday my cellphone got out of my bag, there are at least 5 witnesses that can attest to the incident. My claim was only logged today, after it being reported on Monday. after receiving incomplete information from Vodacom on several occasions.
When My claim was processed I was advised that my excess on the phone was R650.00 apparently if a claim is processed within the first 30 days there is a additional R350.00 co payment.
Firstly I was never made aware of this when I took out the insurance and secondly I find it ridiculous! I have been a member with them for more that 2 years???
My phone was pick pocketed out of my bag, I don't see why I should be penalized for a crime that I did not commit.
Above and beyond that they put a 30 day hold on your insurance, but you are not afforded the same courtesy when you take out the contract. I feel the amount is excessive and unnecessary.
Vodacom advised that I can only claim in 30 days, I am 5 days short of the 30 days process. Unfortunately I cant advise pick pockets to come back at a more convenient date.
