Consultant did not do his jo

I went to vodacom Eastgate to get a new contract for my gran. i did not want to confuse her with bbm and whatsapp, so i told the consultant not to activate bis she will only be using whatsapp. the consultant did not inform me that whatsapp will not work properly if bis is not activated. they also charged me R929 because i took a R99 topup contract, and for not activating bis. now the consultant keeps saying this is what i wanted, but as he is the expert and i am not he should have told me i would have to take the bb batery out each time i want whatsapp to work. i will gladly change the contract and add the bis, but then i would like my R929 back. i have been a loyal vodacom customer for years, and if this is the type of service they give then i will change my service provider.
