On Friday 12 July 2013 my wife was contacted by a Vodacom Direct marketing agent and congratulated on being one of a hundred selected customers to test a new Samsung S5 at a fixed cost of R200 per month. My wife was concerned and referred the agent to me to explain the deal. I confirmed the model as a S5 and shared how exciting it would be to be part of the research into the new model and that my spouses phone was two weeks ago and as such a welcome replacement to her S4. The deal was concluded by my wife. Subsequently sharing our excitement with a friend, who happens to be a Manager at a Vodacom outlet, revealed the plausibility of a new Samsung S5 being available for test. He also mentioned that he has received complaints from customers who received handsets alternate to that mentioned by the sales agent. Once the RAM delivered parcel is opened the contract is concluded and starts the hearsay arguments between Vodacom and yourself. We cancelled the deal which subsequently indicated that a Samsung Galaxy Pocket was to be delivered. Interestingly the code for this handset is S5-301. Easy to now argue that we heard the agent incorrectly. Be warned against unscrupulous agents.
