I received a call from my Loan Service Provider - Bayport Financial Services offering me a Nokia E37 with a Vodacom contract. I accepted the contract because the rental was affordable and I needed a new phone. We already had 2 contracts in our household so placed the sim cards in our safe to use in a case of emergency. 3 months later (March 2011), I needed to use my Vodacom sim card only to find that I had no service. We tested the line from our other phones only to find that the numbers were being answered by a black gentleman. He returned my calls only to tell me that he had had this number for 2 years. That he had lost his sim and had recently done a sim swap. I stopped my debit order only to get attention. Instead of Bayport or Vodacom calling me to see what the problem was, I received a visit from Lodi Collection services. We established that I had been accidentally given a generic sim card which in fact belonged to someone else. I still have not been able to use this service, 2 years down the line I've finished paying the "loan" and have never used the contract. I've since found that this number belongs to yet another black gentleman!!! I've been blacklisted by Bayport!!!
