If you can avoid them, don't use SmartVillage

I've been a SmartVilage customer for a year - we have no choice at Waterfall - and honestly, SmartVillage's service is a good reason to seriously consider not investing in a home at Waterfall Estate. It's that bad. If you care at all about internet or TV access you should think twice about moving to Waterfall.

As I sit here on hold (yet again) to SmartVillage's horrible call centre:
- We've had no TV service for more than a week.
- SmartVillage internet service has been unreliable for more than a month.

As for their service - I was told a week ago that a technician will be out to repair our TV service "tomorrow" - we're still waiting. The technician didn't even bother logging my complaint about internet connectivity; he just explained that "ja, lots of people have been reporting that - we're trying to fix it."

This is at least the 10th such outage we've had to deal with in the last year. Sometimes the phone doesn't work for days - sometimes it's the TV signal. The system goes down for "planned maintenance" regularly. These guys make Telkom look good. They've been promising to interconnect to other ISP's for years but seem to be too hooked on their monopoly to deliver on that.
