I upgraded with MTN Direct via the internet and completed the process via telephone. The phone delivered to me on the upgrade would not turn on, I reported this and was told to charge it for 16 hours and then report it to them if there was still a problem. After 16 hours it would still not turn on. I called MTN Direct and was informed by 6 different operators that I needed to return the handset to a store, they could not arrange collection. They also kept telling me to phone the number which I had called them on to report the fault. There seems to be a glitch in the system that is transferring the MTN Direct number to another helpline. I went to MTN Greenstone Mall, expecting to have the handset replaced immediately. I was informed that this was not possible as MTN stores are not affiliated to MTN Direct, even after being told to go to the MTN store at Greenstone by one operator. After much arguing, MTN Direct agreed to collect the handset from the store and promised that they would keep me updated as to when my new handset would be delivered (Monday or Tuesay 3/4 June). I have had no feedback. No one can trace the phone using the reference number given.
