No service!!!

On 18/05/2013 my Iphone 5 started displaying that it had no service. I rebooted my phone twice and still no luck. I called cell c customer care and they transferred me to technical support. I spent approx 30 minutes on the call which I had to make from my Vodacom number since my cell c number had no service, therefore I was being charged for the call. A lady told me to manually change my settings and reboot my phone and said if the problem persisted to repeat doing that. I managed to get about a minute of service at a time but it was highly frustrating to keep manually changing settings and rebooting the phone. Please advise. Is there a problem with the network or the phone? Its sad that I am paying for something I cant even use.
