We returned this week from our holiday. Before we went overseas, we had a look at roaming rates and decided against it, because it is expensive.
On our trip, I had roaming services wherever I went. I had a Apple iPhone and I switched off the "cellular data" and "data roaming" options on the phone itself.
Now I get a HUGE statement from MTN - over R 8, 000!
MTN, I have NEVER requested roaming services from you. I never gave any permission for roaming to be activated on my account. I never signed anything. MTN even let me know that I've reached my credit limit with them, but the next day, my unbilled balance was already almost R 8, 000! Surely my account needs to be suspended after I've reached my credit limit?
I also found on the legal pages-part of MTN's website (web address: [URL Removed] that, and I quote "The subscriber has to make a written request 5 days prior to departure by completing an International Roaming/Unbarring form. Unfortunately, telephonic requests cannot be considered."
Now MTN - I cannot pay R8, 000 for my cellphone bill. And I didn't request the services.
Please help me sort this out!
Kind regards
