After 3 years non activity account being debited

Last month I suddenly had my account debited for gym payment. I have not been to the gym in over 3 years, nor have I made payment to the gym. I don't know how all of a sudden they can start taking money from my account again after all this time.
I would like the amounts from the last two months to be returned to me in full and no more payments to be taken from my account. I don't think this is unreasonable and would like someone to contact me with regards to this. When trying to contact the gym there has been no response on the telephone number I have been trying to reach.
