Refusal to suspend membership - ill membe

My husband has broken a rib, has bronchial pneumonia and has been told by the doctor that he is not allowed to exercise at all for at least 6 weeks. Despite providing evidence, they refuse to suspend membership payments for the months he cannot use the gym. They could provide no reasonable explanation as to why this is fair.
