I joined Vitality prior to 2010, mainly to take advantage of the free Virgin Active membership. When I joined, one was able to get a leave of absence form the gym due to medical reasons, or apply a self-imposed 6 month suspension every 3 years of the contract. I have attanded the gym regularly and enjoyed it.
I am now 5 months pregnant and my doctor has advised that it is unsafe for me to excercise. I sent the doctor's note to Discovery, asking to suspend my membership until the doctor advises that it is safe to exercise again. I requested the suspension as I do not want to lose my membership from lack of visits.
Discovery have advised that they make no exceptions to the minimum number of visits.
I feel that this is not fair and am pretty sure that it is not legal either.
