My son is a member of Planet Splash - the swimming club at Planet Finish. Because we are not members we pay membership for him each school term.
I tried to pay this morning for the new term but was refused unless I produced his birth certificate.
However, bedsides the fact I don't carry his birth certificate with me, even if I did this is still a stupid requirement.
We gave them a copy 4 months ago and the duty manager can see the copy on her computer screen.
When I asked her why she says it is a contract renewal and like cell companies we must resubmit all required forms and documents.
After I pointed out that cell companies have a legal obligation in terms of RICA, she then conceded they have a new computer system which can't carry info over from old contract.
I then spoke to branch manager (Dylan) by phone and he agreed the process is stupid but "his directors insist on it".
I then tried to call their customer care line but apparently this doesn't work on weekends!
So management and staff have no discretion to renew the membership for an 11 year old boy without a copy of a document which they already have on their system??
