We signed on to a gym in hout bay called EDGE FITNESS. After they talked down the insanely high prices to sign up we joined. The Gym consultant offered us a free body analysis, personal trainer for the first 3 weeks, a free tog bag. Fees included a R400 sign up fee, R460 a month for a couple and R300 levy fees each every 6 months for gym upgrades (which we never saw) it all sounded fine and good at the time. It's been a month since they've activated our account and we haven't seen any of these offers that were promised. We are relocating from hout bay and wanted to cancel our contract. It says that we have 20 days to cancel and on the 19th day we called to cancel but were told we have to see the consultant in person and he will only be in in 2 days. After speaking to the manager he refused to cancel our contract and demanded a R4350 cancellation fee. I also found out that another couple signed on for R250 a month and didn't pay any sign up fee, just another example of how the us over. We have contacted our lawyer to take the issue further. I strongly recommend that you think twice before signing on to this gym.
