I've got a 36 month contract with Planet Fitness Bedfordview. I've decided to cancel the contract and I approached the club with a written notification to cancel. They refused to accept my notice to cancel and they toleme that since my contract is a pay as you go contract, the branch staff are unsure about how to cancel such contracts. The contract was paid in full on 12 Jan 2012 to the tune of roughly R4400.
I didn't give Planet Fitness any issues when it came to signing the contract and making payment. I really don't expect any issues when I want to cancel. It's unacceptable for the admin staff to NOT know how to cancel a contract simply because it is a pay as you go contract. Over and above that, according to the CPA I'm entitled to cancel this contract and receive the remaining balance minus the cancellation fee (which should not exceed 10%).
Please could we avoid nasty back and forth exchanges and just get this cancellation finalised as soon as possible. All I need to know is what the process is, what is required from me and what the cancellation fee is (if there is one although there shouldn't be). Please could I get a timely response.
