Do Not Insure Mobile Device through Edgars

I insured my Samsung with Edgars Cellular Dept at Lakeside Mall on 14/09/2011, administration fees were paid and I was given a policy number with an Invoice stipulating the insurance.
I sent my phone in on the 13/03/2013 for a screen replacement and was informed that the device was not insured. When looking at my Edgars statement I realised that they had not been charging me for insurance on this device. After speaking with the Staff at Edgars, they informed me that if had proof of the phones insurance, they would still be able to repair the screen. I sent through the proof of the insurance but after phoning Finrite and Edgars multiple times without any joy, I was told that they will repair the device but I would have to pay for the months which I was not charged.
I have now given up as I can get it fixed at a cheaper price than what I am expected to pay them. I informed them to send the device back. Still after a month I have not received my phone back and cannot get any answers out of them.
I feel as if I have been take advantage of in this situation as I understand it is my responsibility to check my statement but I feel it was their duty to load the policy onto their system
