I bought two Bush Baby 5-man gazebo tents some time ago at Checkers Hyper Greenacres in Port Elizabeth (think it was approx. R1200 each). I gave one to my mother and kept the other one to myself. I have never used it before and decided to use it this weekend (Easter weekend) in the Drakensberg.
To make a long story short, our whole weekend was ruined!!! While we were sleeping, it started to rain... in no time the whole tent was flooding. Our linen and suitcases were SOAKING WET, water POOLS were everywhere inside the tent and we couldn't go back to sleep (this was roundabout 3am). The kids, who slept in a 2-man Camp Master tent, were completely dry and happy.
The Bush Baby tent comes with a water-resistant flysheet... what a joke! After this whole episode we had to cut our weekend short, with everything being SOAKING WET! We had to drive all the way back to Gauteng after this dreadful experience and OBVIOUSLY the kids weren't happy about not camping anymore.
Now I wonder whether my mother will have the same experience with the tent I've given her!!!
