Edgars changing interest free account option
I have recently purchased things from Edgars and asked for it to be put on my account under the 6 months payment plan which is interest free. The lady at the counter told me that she cannot choose a payment plan option any more on the system and that it will be placed on the default payment option. When I enquired about this at customer services, I was told that Edgars no longer offer 6 months interest free payment options, but rather the default 12 months plan at 22% interest per annum. I asked the lady how they can do this, to which her response was that this is what they've been told by Head Office. I then enquired as to when and how I was notified of this change and she said that this was a recent change and that customers would be informed withing the coming 6 months. I would like to know from Edgars who gave them the authority to change a legal contract that I have signed with them, years ago, without my consent. I have also noticed that the receipt which you sign does not indicate the period of repayment nor the interest. Fine print on the back states that you agree to the 'agreed' interest by signing. Illegal and corrupt practise. Goodbye Edgars...
