Some two weeks ago, I checked-in my pc Laptop at the HiFi Corp repair section at Springfield Durban, because the screen cracked. I explained that it was under warranty seeing that it was bought some 6 months ago (12 month warranty), and explained that the screen cracked because of poor design of the screen and hinge, in that each time I opened the screen, it stressed he screen, which subsequently cracked the screen from normal open and closing of the screen (I must emphasise that I handled this laptop very carefully, which I did not drop, and there is also no evidence of damage). To my disappointment, I was called today by HiFi Corp stating that the device was "beyond economical repair" and that I must come and collect the device (which I now can't use!!). So I paid some R5000-00 for this device and 6 months later it seems "beyond useful life". How unfair Hi-Fi Corp! - are you selling defective products that only 6 months (for a slightly lower price than your competitors)? Could you help me understand this gross unfair treatment please, and what could be done to rectify this unit as it is still under warranty?
