Taken off and not put into my Nedbank account

Monday 16th of Dec, I returned an item to Customer Services at Bayside Mall. The lady put through the transaction but a few minutes later my sms notification showed the amount had been taken off my account instead of being refunded. I questioned her and she said that I was incorrect and would have to go to the bank and ask for a statement and bring back to show her.

My balance is now R360 lower than it should be because R180 has been taken off twice (once with the purchase and once with the "refund")

My bank is saying that I have to wait for Woolworths to process their side before I can see the transaction being reflected.

I now have to wait another day to sort this mistake out.

How can a refund be deducted from my bank balance? I cannot understand why Woolworths could not have just given me the cash and avoided all this hassle.

I am still working and have to now take time to go to the bank again.

Sometimes being a woolworths customer just makes me see red.
