I went shopping with my daughter and grand daughter at Pep Stores in Leandra. My grand daughter is 18 months old. She took a hanger off a rack and took it to the counter where I assume she thought she was shopping and therefore was going to pay for her purchase. The teller, Betty spoke to the woman next to her about the white woman who is not watching what her child is doing and continued to discuss my daughter in Zulu. Being born and bred in KZN and learning to speak Zulu before the age of 4 years old was to my advantage. I asked her to please not think all white people could not understand Zulu and she proceeded to get rather arrogant with me. We asked to speak to the Manager and told her of our experience. She seemed to be intimidated by the staff member and said '" I dont speak Zulu"". Customer service has really gone down in many of the Pep Stores I have been into. I enjoy shopping there for my grandchildren who go through clothing very quickly. I will never shop at the Leandra branch again but would rather travel to Secunda in future. It is a little further but the staff are very pleasant there.
