On the 24th December 2012 my husband bought me a "9ct Gold" chain and pendent for R999.00 from Sterns in Greeacres shopping centre and proudly presented this to me at Christmas. About 2 weeks ago the chain broke, so I gave the chain to my daughter in law who happens to work for Goodman's goldsmith and asked her to have it repaird. WHAT A SHOCK when my daughter in law returned the chain to me, and informed me that the chain was not worth repairing becuse it's value was only R50.00. That in fact is was only gold plated silver. Well, I was horrified. The chain was hanging with all the 9ct pieces My husband took the chain back to the store and they indeed confirmed what the Goldsmith has said and that the chain was only gold plated and was only indeed worth R50.00. My husband then asked why he was not informed about this misconception and deception and they said it should have been mentioned at the time of purchase. The store has promised to cr his account.
