I bought a Garmin 610 running watch with Heart Rate Monitor in April 2013. After a couple of months I noticed that the HRM was giving weird readings that were completely inconsistent with my running. I then discovered that the model of HRM as supplied had been discontinued and replaced with a newer one, because of problems similar to the one that I encountered. I returned it to the branch from which I had bought it. The manager, Herman du Plessis, personally attended to my request for a new model HRM. Although it took a couple of weeks to finalise, he was prompt in his response. It wasn't his fault that Garmin took their time! I have tested the new HRM, and all seems to be fine.
I had originally wanted to buy the watch off the internet (R1000 cheaper), but decided to go for Sportsmans because of their after-sales service. How right I was! Dealing with their personnel regarding this return was a pleasure.
