I purchased a High End Fossil watch in December 2007. The watch has in the last year developed some issues with the strap (rubber links perishing). I don't mind paying for the repair/replacement even though I do not see it as wear and tear but rather bad materials used at manufacturing.
I contacted the Fossil SA Repair Centre, at first they explained that a new strap will be about R500. Then when I want to purchase the strap they explained to me that there are no parts/straps available for my watch anymore as it is "old". How can that be as the watch has an 11 year warranty?
This is truly unacceptable from a worldwide company such as Fossil! They say I can get 50% discount off any other watch. Now my problem is the watch is working 100% and have no other issues than the strap. The strap's replacement value is less than 25% of the value of the watch. So my only option is to go out and spend at least R1000 (after the 50% discount) for a watch I don't want. I can't even get a watch in the same 'class' as Fosssil does not sell Ana-Digi Watches anymore.
Can someone please help me with my situation.
